We asked Author, Emily Belden, “What’s in Your Bag?”
My glasses: literally cannot see 2 feet in front of my face.
All the makeup you’ll ever need in a pinch: MAC
lipstick (special edition Archie’s Girls color) and their Naughty & Nice mascara, along with Bobbi Brown
(the original gangster for chapped lips), and some moisturizer from Kiehl’s
USB drive: my manuscript is on it. It’s my most prized possession. I take it with me wherever I go!
Pack of gum: can’t do anything mint flavored so I spring for “fruity fresh”
wristlet/wallet: gift from my brother almost 10 years ago. I haven’t upgraded since!
My book & a Sharpie: I was just asked to sign a copy in a hotel on Michigan Ave yesterday.
Keys: my fiance got me the “cat claw” for the mean streets of Chicago. I’ve never had to use it.
Emily Belden is a creative spitfire living, working, and blogging in the city of Chicago. Little did she know, one of her posts would morph into a full-length manuscript – a memoir – called Eightysixed: Life Lessons Learned. It is a story of all the scandal and serendipity one encounters in her 20s. “A comedy of misses,” her publisher likes to say. “Mean Girls meets 50 Shades of Grey,” Emily likes to say.
You may have seen Emily before; or at least her bedroom. That’s right, she was The Today Show with her fiance, Ryan Lange, after the two finished gluing 60,000 pennies to their floor! Check out the final product here.
In what little free time she has, Emily can be found planning her May 3rd wedding, walking her rescue pit bulls Mr. Jarbles and Gus, or looking to score a great chocolate chip cookie. Any leads?
The fabulous Emily would like to send a signed bookmark to anyone who buys the book, regardless if it’s an e-reader or paperback. It’s simple: just email your receipt and mailing address to firstname.lastname@example.org and it will be shipped to you at no extra cost!
